ESNZ has announced its mid-year eventing squads with few changes.
World no.1 Tim Price has four horses in the High Performance Squad in Bango, his 2018 Burghley winner Ringwood Sky Boy, his 2019 Luhmuhlen winner Ascona M and Xavier Faer – the latter two having moved up from the High Performance Futures Squad.
His wife Jonelle remains on the top squad with her 2018 Badminton winner Classic Moet and her 2018 Luhmuhlen champ Faerie Dianimo with Sir Mark Todd having a trio in the squad in Kiltubrid Rhapsody, his Rio Olympic Games horse Leonidas II and his 2018 World Equestrian Games horse McClaren.
Clarke Johnstone rounds out the line-up with his Rio horse Balmoral Sensation.
There are three new combinations in the High Performance Futures Squad in New Zealand National Three Day Champ Madison Crowe and Waitangi Pinterest, Dan Jocelyn aboard Blackthorn Cruise as well as Jesse Campbell aboard Cleveland. They join Amanda Pottinger aboard Just Kidding, Caroline Powell with On the Brash, Jesse with Amsterdam 21, and Lucy Jackson aboard Superstition.
New riders Emily Cammock, Matthew Grayling and Renee Faulkner join the High Performance Potential Squad, alongside Bundy Philpott, James Avery, Joe Meyer, Monica Oakley, Nick Brooks, Sam Lissington and Virginia Thompson.
Making up the Talent Development Squad are Jessica Woods and Abigail Long, with the Talent ID Squad remaining unchanged and comprising Abbey Thompson, Beth Wilson, Brodie Roberts, Greer Caddigan, Sam Mynott Vicky and Browne-Cole.
High performance director Simon Bennett says he is pleased to see the depth of talent across the squads. “It’s good to see many Olympic and WEG caps right through to new talent as we focus not only on the Tokyo Olympic Games but build towards WEG and Paris,” he said.
