The Matthews Hanoverians suffix MH is predominant on the podium at dressage competitions in New Zealand. Peter & Judith have been supporters of dressage since the early days of their breeding programme and this year continue their support for the Novice Super 5 League
Their stud is situated in Awanui in the far North, Northland, and it is there that they breed and train Hanoverian horses for both local and international dressage performance.
Through their our young horses for sale they offer some of the best Hanoverian bloodlines. All the mares are top quality imported and selected NZ mares chosen for bloodlines and performance. Their breeding programme incorporates quality bloodlines, top handling skills and good nutrition, with lush New Zealand pastures an ideal nursery for young horses to grow up on.
The Dressage squads for 2019 are testament to the success of their programme with six horses named across the levels. Stephanie Baker (Popstar Wendi Williamson (Don Amour, Decadance, Don Vito, Bon Jovi) and Julie Flintoff (Belladonna)
Since 2007, Matthews Hanoverians have won the Glenvar Trophy for the Breeder of the Best placed NZ bred Young Dressage Horse at the National Championships and have won the Astek Stud Trophy for Young Dressage Horse Championship three times
Showjumpers are also emerging from the programme noting the success of Graffiti MH
