NZL riders all enjoyed a great first day at the Sydney CDI. Wendi Williamson and Don Amour MH were tantalizing close to a win in the Otto Sport Australia CDI 3* Grand Prix on 67.14% just being edged out by Rozzie Ryan and Jarrah R on 67,522%.
Wendi said afterwards that “Donny” had been quite nervous in the atmosphere, initially not even wanting to to enter the main arena. He lacked attention in the first halt and then hesitating in the first piaffe, but then he grew in confidence as the test went on showing some super half passes in both trot and canter and a confident final centre line.
Victoria Wall was ecstatic about Letty Lei EDH in her first off shore CDI. “She’s such a great competitor – seems to bring her best out at the big shows” This pair finished a close fifth on 66.217%.
Both combinations will start in today’s Grand Prix Special at 4.27 and 4.54 Aus time.
Christine Weal and Schindlers Liszt gave notice in the Prix St Georges field of 20 starters finishing 4th on 68.56 % behind the strong AUS boys zone trio of David McKinnon, Riley Alexander and Brett Parbery
Holly Leach and HP Fresco looked starry in round one of the 7yr old test finishing second .
