Incidents have been noted both in NZ and overseas where the horse while being ridden, has either shaken it’s  head while on  a  long rein, or been allowed to rub it head on its leg resulting in both the ear hood and the bridle detaching themselves from the horse with the rider still mounted. Ear hoods can provide an increased level of safety for sound sensitive horses, but need to be used with caution taking into account the above scenario
