There’s a large contingent of Kiwi eventers heading to the Camphire International Horse Trials in Ireland this weekend.
It is the last chance for ESNZ high performance eventers to impress selectors before the team and reserves for the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games will be announced early next month. The challenging weather in the UK saw the WEG selection time frame pushed out to include Camphire.
The CCI3* has attracted 32 entries, including Tim Price aboard Ascona M and Kincooley Cruising, Blyth Tait on Dassett Courage, Jesse Campbell on Cleveland and Jonelle Price on Kindred Spirit.
The dressage gets underway this evening with Tim aboard Kincooley Cruising second out and Tait not long after. Jesse and Jonelle will also complete their dressage overnight.
The Prices are also busy in the 36 strong CIC3* with Tim on Bango and Ringwood Sky Boy, Jonelle on Cooley Showtime, Blyth on Leo Distinction and James Avery aboard Optimus Prime.
Some of the field will complete their dressage overnight including Blyth and Tim aboard Bango. Tomorrow Tim will do his dressage test on Ringwood Sky Boy, along with James and Jonelle.
The CCI2* has attracted 22 entries including Jonelle on Hester and James aboard Mr Sneezy, while the CIC2* is predominantly Irish in the 45 entries, with Virginia Thompson in on Star Nouveau, Jonelle on Grappa Nera and Jesse on Diachello.
New Zealand is also represented in the CCI1* with Hollie Swain on Solo and James aboard Seaflower.
