James Avery is in smoking hot form at the Tattersalls International Horse Trials in Ireland, leading George Mernagh Memorial CIC3* and Eventing Ireland CCI2* classes.

Avery and Zazu sit on 20.8 penalty points at the front of the 39-strong CIC3* field, with Jonelle Price and Faerie Dianimo the next best of the Kiwis, in seventh place on 28.3. Blyth Tait and Havana sit in ninth spot on 29 with Lucy Jackson and Willy Do in 11th on 30.5 and Jonelle Price on her second mount Kindred Spirit II in 20th on 34.6.

In the CCI2*, Avery leads the 48-strong field on 27.3 aboard Vitali with Tim Price and Falco right on his tail in second equal spot on 27.4.

Tonight is the cross country for The Irish Field CCI3* class, where Tim Price and Cekatinka sit in third place with their 27.4 penalty point dressage. Alex Hua Tian (China) and Don Geniro lead the field on 24. Tait and Dassett Courage are in 18th spot on 33.3 with Lucy Jackson and Superstition on 33.7, Tim Price aboard Up in the Air on 34.1, Dan Jocelyn on Grovine de Reve on 35.3 and Tait aboard Leo Distinction on 36.2.

There’s also cross country for the CCI2* this evening and the showjumping for the CIC3* whose cross country follows the next day.
