Kiwi showjumpers are on heading to Switzerland this week to compete in the next leg of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup.

Samantha McIntosh and her stunning 15-year-old German-bred stallion Check In 2 again spearhead the team which also includes Bruce Goodin aboard Bäckatorps Danny, Daniel Meech on Fine and Richard Gardner with his new horse Ulysse D’En Haut. Chef d’equipe is Ulrika Goodin.

It’s the same team of riders who won the opening round of the series in Abu Dhabi.

Goodin’s Bäckatorps Danny is a 10-year-old Dutch-bred gelding who joined his stable earlier this year. Fine, a 10-year-old Swedish-bred mare, has been with Meech since late 2016, while Gardner and the 10-year-old bay stallion Ulysse D’En Haut have only just recently teamed up.

The New Zealand team will be up against others from Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and Spain in the Nations Cup.   The series includes 13 qualifiers over three continents and culminates in Barcelona, Spain, with the final in October.

McIntosh also has Estina and her new horse Alaid De Chez Nous at the event.  The Nations Cup class will take place on Sunday (4.00am Monday morning NZ time) with other lead up classes taking place from Thursday.
