Samantha Mynott & CHS Ripley’s Dream – CCI1* Championship Winners (Mamaku Trophy) 2018

There were tears of joy when Matangi rider Samantha Mynott and CHS Ripleys Dream won the Fiber Fresh CCI1* Championship at the NRM3DE.

The duo came into the showjumping test in fourth place, with a stunning clear round securing the win on their dressage score of 32.8 penalty points and claim the Mamaku Trophy. Overnight leader Samantha Felton (Matangi) and Ricker Ridge Riley had a costly rail to slip to second on 34, with Bundy Philpott (Cambridge) and Shillings in third on 34.3 and Amanda Illston (Auckland) on Verdelho in fourth on 34.4.

Mynott spent most of 2016 based in the UK with eventer Jesse Campbell, and says it was a challenge re-establishing herself back in New Zealand. However, that all came good today when they won the crown.

She got the ride aboard CHS Ripleys Dream (owned by Chris Sorrell) in December 2017.

Mynott, who is full time riding, last won a title in 2013 when she took out the Junior One Day Champs.

“It is just awesome to win,” she said. “It has been a long time coming but we are getting there.”

Mynott is trained by Lizzie Green and Tracy Smith. CHS Ripleys Dream is a seven-year-old black Hanoverian gelding who is by Rascalio, out of CHS Wild Dream.

Thirty-six of the original 46 starters completed the class.
