Rosewood Bashir - Owned by Phillip Graham
Represented New Zealand at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen in 2006
Canterbury sheep farmer Philip Graham has been involved with endurance for nearly two decades. It started through his daughter, who still rides, and grew to him being a member of the victorious Trans Tasman team in Australia and representing New Zealand at the World Equestrian Games.
While he is now on the other side of 50, he says “age is only a number”. Key to it all is both horse and rider being fit, and he gets that in spades on his cattle farm.
He bought Rosewood Bashir – Benny to his mates – as a weaned foal and says he always felt the horse was special. That belief is vindicated now as the horse is coming into his own. Benny placed seventh in his first 160km at National Championships in 2012 and has now three completions to his credit.
