What is the Horse Power Programme
The HorsePower Programme is about ensuring Kiwi riders are coupled with medal-winning horses.
In the competitive world of Eventing it is essential that our High Performance riders have more than one horse at championship level. It provides them more opportunities to win, and also ensures NZ has a larger pool to choose from for Olympic Games and World Championships. For our Performance Riders, it’s about securing horses that give them with the opportunity to experience international-level events – and perhaps strike up that future high performance combination bond.

To that end, there are many parts that make up the HorsePower Programme - it is about identifying, sourcing and securing medal-potential horses for kiwi riders and then developing them into medal-winning horses. Owners enjoy hospitality at the Owners Pre-Season Training Day
The HorsePower Initiative is specifically about enabling people to be part of this exciting programme - to increase the quality and depth of horses for NZ's High Performance riders. We are always looking for new people to join our Eventing TeamNZ. For those interested, the HorsePower Initiative offers a fantastic entry point, for either sole ownership or as part of a syndicate.
Eventing is such exciting sport, and watching a horse and rider progress through the grades is a very special journey. Our owners travel the country and world with their horses, visiting some of the most beautiful competition venues. Equestrian provides a unique opportunity for owners to access an Olympic sport as non-athletes.
ESNZ is committed to support our pool of owners. We have numerous hospitality opportunities through the season and work hard to nurture our team ethos and relationships.
Our riders presently participating in the programme are:
Jonelle and Tim Price, Mark Todd, Jock Paget, Jesse Campbell, Blyth Tait, Dan Jocelyn and Lizzie Brown.
Please contact Ginny Loisel on email@example.com for further details on horses available and how you could become involved as part of our team.
