To start your horse/pony in any of the Discipline competitions you need to pay start levies. Dressage, Show Jumping, Show Hunter, Eventing and Endurance, are all purchased via National Office at the time of your registration. An Annual Start Levy in any if these disciplines will mean this horse or pony will be able to start as many times as you wish throughout the registration period.
Proof of your payment of an Annual Start Levy will be displayed on your ESNZ Horse Registration Sticker that you apply to your competitor entry forms. The Annual Start Levy fees cover one year of activity. You will be sent a renewal account at least one month prior to the expiry/anniversary date for the registration of the horse or pony.
Dressage has an option to use a “pay as you go” fee. This is represented by Casual Start Stickers; one sticker equals one start/class per horse/pony. All start stickers must be attached to the competitor entry form at the time of entry. No refunds will be issued if the stickers are not used. If you do not use all of your start stickers and have some left over, you can use them for another horse, on-sell them to other members or save them for next season.

A Guide to Casual Membership
In 2006 ESNZ implemented a Casual Membership System for those competitors that don’t complete on a regular basis.
Link here to view our Casual Membership Guide – Casual Membership Guide
There are three levels of Day Membership, as follows:
Graded Day membership for competitors $20.00
Non-Graded Day membership for competitors $ 5.00
Non-Graded Horse Registration $5.00
How to Obtain your Casual Membership
There are options in which competitors can obtain a Casual Membership:
Option 1 - Event with Entries on the day
The organising committee can obtain Casual Membership Entry forms from ESNZ prior to their event. On the day the competitor will need to fill in the information required on the ticket and pays for the Casual Membership to the Organisning Committee. At the conclusion of the event the Organising Committee returns the receipts from the used Casual Membership Entry forms along with monies collected to ESNZ.
Option 2 - Events with Entries required before the Event
If competitor entries are required to be submitted prior to the event, competitors can purchase their Casual Memberships direct from ESNZ. They will be issued with a Casual Membership Competitor Entry Form which they can make their entries on. The Entry Form will be marked so that secretaries are aware of whether the Casual Membership has been paid for or not.
